«The test for COVID-19 by Eduard Latypov was positive. He is isolated from the team at Oberhof. Eduard feels well, the disease is asymptomatic. We wish him a fast recovery!», says the Russian Biathlon Union.
Immediately after the announcement of the result, Latypov passed two more antigen tests, and both were negative. The athlete was immediately moved to a separate room in order to exclude further contact with the team.
Tonight, Latypov will take another test. The RBU believes that the first was false-positive. Maksim Tsvetkov will replace him in the sprint.
NEW: The second test was positive, so Latypov must go to two-week quarantine, and he will skip Oberhof, Ruhpolding, and maybe Antholz.
