Right from the start of the race, Lisa Vittozzi dropped into the middle of the pack after a miss in prone, while the Oeberg sisters controlled the race for a long time, not allowing anyone to come close and gradually increasing their advantage.
The decisive moment came at the final shooting. Elvira missed twice, while Hanna went onto one penalty loop. Surprisingly, none of the closest chasers — Vobornikova, Tandrevold and Hettich-Walz — managed to hit all five targets either.
Only Lisa Vittozzi, who arrived about 10–15 seconds behind that chasing group, managed to shoot 5 out of 5 and set off after the Swede, who had already built an 8-second lead. However, the Italian caught and passed her on one of the climbs. Oeberg stayed close behind until the final uphill, but could not overtake her rival.
Teresa Vobornikova held on to third place, although Elvira Oeberg was closing the gap rapidly.
