Norwegian podium in the Antholz mass start, Quentin's disappointment

The favorites immediately decided to make the race interesting. At the first shooting, Sturla Lægreid had 3 misses, Johannes Boe had 2 misses, Doll and Nawrath had one miss, and Tarjei Boe shot for so long that he went into the race with Benedikt Doll, who had already ran a penalty loop.

At the next shooting range, Strehlow, Fillon Maillet, Kuehn, and Dale made no mistakes and led the race. A little further away were Stromsheim, Samuelsson, Perrot and Soerum, who was invited to only one race. However, they all joined together in one group, and even Christiansen, who was 15 seconds behind, was able to join them.

Johannes Boe was accurate, but he was still 30 seconds behind the leaders. Tomasso Giacomel made a serious mistake - as many as 4 mistakes on the second prone, and the Italian immediately moved to penultimate place.

But after the first standing, the number of leading athletes decreased significantly. Only Quentin Fillon Maillet, Vetle Christiansen and Vebjörn Sorum were able to cope without mistakes. Jacquelin, Tarjei Boe, Dale were 20 seconds behind.

Johannes Boe added another miss and made his task even more difficult. But this is J.T. By the final shooting he was in 6th place, and was only 20 seconds behind the leader.

At the same time, Vetle Christiansen decided, he did not want to drag along with the slow Frenchman and the "Norwegian tourist", and broke away from this pair by 15 seconds!

Christiansen was flawless in the final shooting, as was Quentin Fillon Maillet, and the Frenchman ran away with his first medal of the season. But all the following athletes made mistakes. And Vebjörn Sorum, who also had to run a penalty loop, remained in 3rd place, with an advantage of 13 seconds over Dale, and 17 over Johannes and Tarjei Boe.

Alas, by the 13.3km cutoff, Dale caught up with the "Norwegian tourist", but it was not a fight for third place, but for second. The Frenchman was not ready for the Norwegian pace. Johannes Dale simply flew past Quentin, and Vebjörn with difficulty, but still overtook him.

Impossible, but Dale at the last lap was 40 seconds faster than Fillon Maillet!
