Fantastic fight in the last lap in Ruhpolding - five athletes, two are extra

Vetle Christiansen spent almost the entire race alone, he felt his opponents behind him only when he left the shooting range.

Tarjei Boe, Johannes Dale, Emilien Jacquelin and Tomasso Giacomel were the closest pursuers of the Norwegian. But first we lost Jacquelin, the Italian missed twice in the second prone, and after the third shooting only Tarjei Boe remained in the catch-up range, with the same lag, that was in the beginning - 19 seconds.

At the third shooting range, out of the top 10, only Sebastian Stalder could avoid penalty loops. The leader and all pursuers ran at least one penalty loop. But the Swiss did not stay alone for long, his speed was slower, and a huge group of candidates for prizes caught him: Johannes Boe, Philipp Nawrath, Johannes Dale, Sturla Lægreid, Justus Strelow, Martin Ponsiluoma, Tomasso Giacomel.

And at the last shooting a real miracle happened! Christiansen and Tarjei Boe missed twice, and when Christiansen came out of the penalty loop, four fell on his back at once: Johannes Boe, Johannes Dale, Justus Strelow and Emilien Jacquelin. However, there was no hope for the Frenchman, if you remember his last lap in the sprint yesterday.

On one of the climbs, Johannes Dale decided that he could go as long as possible without winning, and turned on a powerful pace that no one could maintain. Strelow had already fallen behind, and Emilien Jacquelin tried his best to stay behind the Christiansen-Boe pair, but it seems he pulled a muscle or received some kind of injury, and was no longer participating in the fight for medals.

At the finish line, Christiansen was still faster than Boe.

The Swedes have improved their affairs a little. Ponsilouma rose to 8th place, Samuelsson to 13th.
