While rivals made mistakes in the prone position, the start leader of the pursuit, Ingrid Tandrevold, like a drainer who didn’t care about anything, calmly walked in the leading position. But already at first standing, the Norwegian made one mistake and let Vittozzi and Arnekleiv get close to her.
Two laps before the finish, Haecki, Preuss, Brorsson, Jeanmonnot, Charvatova, and Simon also had good chances (despite 3 misses) - all these athletes lost no more than 30 seconds.
This rarely happens in biathlon, but the entire leading three made no mistakes in the final shooting, and everything was decided on the track. Of the pursuers, only Lou Jeanmonnot avoided penalty loops, but she needed to win back 17 seconds from the top three.
At the leg 9.4km, Lisa Vittozzi made a powerful push, Ingrid held on, but Juni pulled away. The Italian and Norwegian raced to the finish line together, but Tandrevold was unable to overtake Vittozzi and there was no photo finish.
Braisaz-Boucher's race didn't go well at all, the Frenchwoman went into the penalty loop four times. Similar problems befell Elvira Oberg, by the middle of the race she had slipped from 5th starting position to 31st. Subsequently, both, thanks to their phenomenal speed, were able to pull themselves higher, but still, this was enough for Braisaz to lose the lead in the overall standings.
