Considering the not-very-good weather conditions in Oberhof, only a few athletes from the peloton could boast of perfect shooting. These are Jakob Fak, Sebastian Stalder, Johannes Kühn, and Justus Strelow, but none of them managed to get into the top 3.
But Benedikt Doll, even with one penalty loop, managed to take his second victory in a row. Johannes Boe missed twice, and it seemed that the Norwegian would be able to compete for the victory, but not everything is so simple, Johannes even lost a couple of tenths of seconds in the last lap.
For a long time, Jacob Fak was in 3rd place, but two Norwegians, Strømsheim and Lægreid, who started in numbers 40 and 45, buried the Slovenian’s plans to win a medal.
Endre went into the final lap 5 seconds behind Doll, and remained with the same gap, but Lægreid, who was 9 behind after the second shooting, almost took the victory from the German. Sturla was only 2 seconds short of triumph. And no one expected such a pace from him on the last lap, after all, Sturla is more of a slow mover.
Well, the best in pace was Johan Olaf Botn. If you don't know, this is the same guy from the IBU Cup that Christiansen was replaced with. But 4 misses allowed him to take only 26th place.
