Sturla Laegreid became the sole leader after the first prone. The fact is that none of his closest pursuers, up to Thiago Giacomel (No. 8), was able to hit all the targets. Ponsiuloma and Dale missed twice altogether.
Surprisingly, Laegreid's pace during the second lap turned out to be higher than that of his pursuers, and he even broke away from them a little. So his miss on the second prone still didn't allow his pursuers to reach him. Samuelsson was 6 seconds behind, Tarjei Boe and Jacquelin 10 seconds behind. Emilien, by the way, started the race 57 seconds behind.
The trio of Johannes Boe, Eric Perrot and Johannes Dale were another 10 seconds behind.
On the third lap, the “Swedish Rocket” didn't limit itself to just catching up with Laegreid, but also managed to break away from him by 5 seconds. However, this backfired on the shooting, Samuelsson missed twice, and was already far behind the other applicants.
And the first place came out to... Johannes Boe! Sturla Laegreid, after completing another penalty loop, found himself at a respectful distance. And 20-30 seconds behind was an impressive group: Jacquelin, Christiansen, Strömsheim, Tarjei Boe, Doll and Dale.
At the last shooting, Johannes was very lucky, he closed three gaps, and went to his first victory this season.
Laegreid shot for a long time, but accurately, so the athletes in the group behind, who managed to get around without misses, ended up only 10 seconds behind the Norwegian “slow mover”, these athletes were Dale and Tarjei Boe. By the 11.1 km intermediate, they had already caught up with Laegreid.
Johannes Dale immediately passed Sturla, but Tarjei Boe hesitated a little, and this cost him second place, by the time he passed Laegreid, Dale had already made a start for himself, and Tarjei remained third.
Samuelsson, after a failure in the third shooting, still pulled himself into 5th place.
Philippe Nawrath performed slightly better than in the sprint, the former yellow jersey climbed 10 positions up.
