After the first shooting, the number of pursuers of Philipp Nawrath decreased. Tarjei Boe shot clean but took too long to do so, while Samuelsson and Soerum each made one mistake and rejoined the race 50 seconds behind. They were accompanied by Fabien Claude and Vetle Christiansen.
Nawrath made 5 for 5 again on the second prone, and all the pursuers except Sebastian Samuelsson repeated it. The Swede seemed to enjoy going into the penalty loops.
Meanwhile, Johannes Boe, with zero misses, broke through from 18th place to 14th.
Tarjei Boe was walking rather weakly, so Sorum, Claude and Christiansen caught up with him. Samuelson also made an extra effort and still caught up with these four.
At the first standing, Philipp began to add at least some intrigue to this race, making one mistake. But there were two times fewer pursuers. It was Soerum and Christiansen who went to 300 and 150 meters. And Samuelsson, Tarjei Boe and Fabien Claude were 16-24 seconds behind the German, that is, at a distance of one penalty loop.
Samuelsson was flying along the track. 18 seconds? No, it’s already 10, but here it is 7, and they approached the last standing almost together. And even though both made a mistake, the Swede still came to the last lap ahead of the German.
Tarjei Boe and Fabien Claude failed to hit all 5 targets and were eliminated from the medal fight. But Christiansen did it quickly and clearly, and went into the final lap just 6 seconds behind the duo.
But the Swede almost immediately turned on maximum speed and left the German to swallow the snow. First victory for Seba in this season. Christianen, of course, tried to catch Nawrath, but couldn't do it.
Philipp Nawrath saved the yellow bib with only 1 point advantage.
