A light breeze at the shooting range helped to close all the targets, and more than half of the teams at the 1st leg managed to shoot within one extra bullet, while Johansen, Passler and Sidorovic managed without it at all.
At the first pass of the relay, four leaders emerged: France, the Czech Republic, Norway and Italy. Janina Hettich finished her part of the race 15 seconds behind, and teams of Switzerland, Sweden and Poland were another 10 seconds behind. The rest at this point were already more than a minute behind.
At the prone of the second leg, nothing changed, only Persson slightly caught up with the leading quartet. Chevalier, Jislova, Arnekleive, and Wierer left together, but Juni Arnekleiv decided to break away from her rivals. She succeeded, and it didn’t backfire during the shooting, and the young Norwegian created an advantage of 37 seconds over her closest rival, Jislova. Next was Linn Person, who narrowly avoided a penalty loop, Janina Hettich and Doro Wierer, with a gap of 50 seconds. But Chloe Chevalier took too long at the standing, and ended up going into the penalty loop. France from being the leader to being the 7th team, with a gap of 2:18!
But already on the next prone the gap decreased - Knotten couldn't hit the last target, and the number of pursuers was halved. Elvira Oberg and Vanessa Voigt did a great job at the shooting. Marketa Davidova, who began shooting before them, left one target open and was already losing 1:15, as was Samuela Comolla, who shot for a long time.
But Karoline Knotten is clearly not the hero of the day today! She shot everything she had to close 5 targets, and she became already in the role of catching up. Together, Vanessa Voigt left for the last lap. And they were chasing Elvira Oberg, who did 10 out of 10 during her leg! And of course, the Swede runs faster, so her advantage in passing the relay was 25 and 29 seconds, respectively.
Marketa Davidova was 4th with a gap of 1:35, and Aita Gasparin was already 2:20 behind. Justine Braisaz moved up the French team for 2 positions, but what's the sense if you lose almost 3 minutes to the leaders?
On the first prone of the last leg, Hanna Oberg hesitated a little, and allowed Ingrid Tandrevold to reduce the gap to 10 seconds. Franziska Preuss was still 25 seconds behind, but was ready to take on the burden of second place if one of her competitors got too nervous. And after Marketa Davidova’s shooting, it became clear that they can at least miss all the targets, the places on the podium are concreted behind these three! After all, Switzerland was already in 4th place with a gap of 2:28.
At the last shooting, the Swede's nerves lost. First 4 shots, 0 hits. Then all the bullets hit the target, but the Swede still ran through the penalty loop. Preuss could have fought for second place, but even on the previous lap, where she lost 30 seconds, it became clear that she just wanted to finish.
Norwegian spent 7 bullets, but quickly closed all the targets, and led the Norwegian team to victory.
