While the Russians were holding incomprehensible competitions in Khanty-Mansiysk, the Swiss, Austrians and Slovenes were qualifying in the Alps, and in the Finnish Kontiolahti the teams of Finland, Ukraine and Kazakhstan also held trial races.
Denis Nasyko won the Saturday sprint. Jakko Ranta and Tuomas Harjula are in second and third places. Tero Seppälä didn't participate in this race, and the best of the Kazakhs was Alexander Mukhin 12th.
The women's sprint was won by Suvi Minkinnen, and ex-Russian Daria Virolainen took 3rd place.
The men's sprint on Sunday was won by Anton Dudchenko, with Tero Seppälä 3 seconds behind. Asset Dussenov (Kazakhstan) showed himself very well, he took 4th place and a gap of 27 seconds with one mistake.
The women's sprint was won by Kaisa Keränen, born in 2001. Daria Virolainen, 12 years older than her, took second place this time. However, Suvi Minkinen didn't start this time.
But Virolainen needs some qualifying IBU points, and Daria will have to start from the IBU Cup.
