One of the triggers for the creation of the league was another ban from the IBU, which doesn't allow Russia, as an existing member of the IBU, to hold international competitions (we are most likely talking about Russia + Belarussian Cup).
The founders of the league were the Belarusian Biathlon Club under the leadership of Evgeniy Chmil, and the Regional Biathlon Club with the President of the Moscow Region Biathlon Federation Alexei Nuzhdov.
The main target of this organization is to hold international biathlon competitions. And since these clubs are not members of the IBU, they have the right to create a new organization and invite athletes from any country to participate under their auspices.
The main difference from regular competitions will be that here the athletes will represent their clubs, not countries.
The first competition is planned to be held on November 18-19 in Khanty-Mansiysk, the program will include mass starts 60, and pursuit races. The schedule, quotas and participants will be announced later, but the prize fund will be 8 million rubles (about 80000 euro). 1 Million for victory, 500 thousand for second place, 250 for third, and so on down to 6th place.
In addition to Russian and Belarusian athletes, one Chinese team led by Andrei Prokunin will also take part. It is also possible that another team from China will take part, as well as athletes from Uzbekistan, Turkey and Mongolia.
