At the first shooting, half of the participants failed to shoot, including Hanna and Elvira Oeberg, Ingrid Tandrevold - one miss each, and Lisa Vittozzi with two misses. Lisa either cashes or finishes outside of the top 20 this year, and this is a second category race for her.
Usually, a miss on the first prone can be easily recovered in the course of the 2nd lap, but not this time. Neither the Oberg sisters nor Tandrevold was able to play back the 20-second gap to the second shooting. On which the list of contenders thinned a little. Denise Herrmann didn't cope with the shooting at all, having made 4 misses. But Simon, Roeiseland, Wierer, Davidova, Voigt and Jeanmonnot continued to go in the leading group. Hanna Oberg and Tandrevold followed at a short distance. But the sisters Chevalier, Elvira Oberg and Lisa Vittozzi made more mistakes, and finally dropped out of the fight.
At the third shooting Julia Simon shot accurately and much faster than her rivals, which allowed her to enter the race with a 7-second advantage over Jeanmonnot and Wierer. Marte Roieseland is also very close - 4 seconds behind from the French-Italian pair.
But Marketa Davidova made a mistake twice, and also dropped out of the fight. Hanna Oberg continued to move at her own pace without any misses and moved up to 6th place, behind Emma Lander.
To the last shooting, the gaps remained the same, and Simon was the first to start shooting, hit 4, missed the last one, and went to the penalty loop. But Wierer and Jeanmonnot were accurate, and left almost together for the final lap. However, Julie Simon quickly ran the penalty loop, and rushed to catch up with Lou and Dorothea, only 12 seconds behind.
Roeiseland made a mistake, and no longer participated in the fight for medals.
But we haven't forgotten Dorothea Wierer's last lap in the individual race 3 days ago. She showed about the same pace now. She quickly broke away from Jeanmonnot, who, in turn, tried to keep her distance from Simon. Lou Jeanmonneau's stamina proved to be sufficient and she retained second place.
Roeiseland and Colombo played 4th place in a photo finish, and Hanna Oeberg got into the flower ceremony, finishing 6th.
