Norway with a semi-reserve squad won the relay in Oestersund

The main question before the start of the race was this: Will the Norwegians be able to win without their best athletes, not counting Vetle Christiansen, who is in the roster.

The initial leg was quite calm, the first eight fit in 19 seconds. Of the favorites, only the Frenchman Lombardo was not in the group of leaders, and lost 33 seconds.

After the second prone, Niklas Hartweg took the lead, and no matter how hard the opponents tried, they could not catch up with him in standing. But even here the Swiss was impeccable and left the leader for his final lap. However, Vebjern Soerum fired even faster and joined the Swiss. But by the end of the lap, it turned out that the Norwegian reservist was much faster than the best Swiss, Webjorn was 13 seconds ahead of the Swiss, and was faster than almost the entire peloton.

Canadian Runnals, despite three extra bullets, still went third, already 20 seconds behind. And then, with a range of 5 seconds of each, there were Bionaz, Prima, Guigonna, Stefansson. Johannes Kühn and Tomasz Mikiszka overdid it and earned a penalty loop and were already over a minute behind.

Despite half a minute behind the rivals, Eric Perrot, Peter Braunhofer almost delivered the Norwegian and the Swiss. And Martin Ponsiluoma, Trevor Kears, Philip Nawrath, Denis Nasyko, in general, all the pursuers of the two leaders were able to catch up to them. And all because Johannes Dale barely managed to close all the targets, and Seraphim Wistner, although he used only one extra bullet, shot for a very long time. Thus, after the 5th shooting, as many as 9 teams were 27 seconds away!

To the standing, Eric Perrot pulled himself up to the two leaders, and after shooting he completely led the race, but not for long. Martin Ponsiluoma overtook him almost immediately and finished the leg as the leader. And the Swede took the relay with a 51-second delay!

Johannes Dale wasn't far behind and Femling and Christiansen started their race at the same time. Switzerland and France were 13 seconds behind, Austria and Germany 35 seconds behind.

But then Christiansen showed class. And while the Swede was puffing over the shooting, and Fabien Claude was winding the penalty loop, the Norwegian easily and naturally dealt with all the targets, and with a comfortable advantage went to the finish lap, and win this race for Norway.

Benedict Doll managed to join the fight. The German easily overtook Swede and went to catch up with the Frenchman. At the very first cutoff, it turned out that Doll managed to win back 7 seconds from Claude, but things didn’t go any further. Sweden again without medals, it's a shame.

Ukraine is 5th, and it seems that they cann't be afraid for their place in the Nations Cup, which will give them the right to apply for five athletes. But Slovenia and Finland will continue to fight for 10th place already in the Holmekollen sprint. So are Switzerland and the Czech Republic, who are fighting for 5th place in the Nations Cup.
