IBU suspect Kazakhstan team in Anti-Doping Rule Violations. Almost full team A was suspended:

- Anna Kistanova
- Anton Pantov
- Vassiliy Potkorytov
The only Roman Eremin and Vlad Vitenko escaped punishment.
"In order to guarantee fair competitions that are not affected by the substantial risk of doping sanctions, the following members of the Kazakhstan Biathlon team are provisionally suspended from participating in any IBU-sanctioned competitions with immediate effect, pending the final decision of a hearing into the alleged Anti-Doping Rule Violations (ADRVs)", - from Press-Release IBU
The review and provisional suspensions are based on criminal investigations in Austria and Italy. The provisionally suspended athletes are now given the chance to provide the IBU with an adequate explanation of the alleged ADRV. The IBU will then decide on what further proceedings are taken.
