Slovenian skier Annamaria Lampic has announced that she is done with skiing and is moving on to biathlon. This is a huge loss for the Slovenian national team. After all, Lampic is an athlete who, on a regular could take medals in individual races.
In the year before the last (covid) season, when the national teams of Sweden and Norway withdrew from several events, the Slovenian even managed to win the World Cup sprint standings.
And last season, when everything was already fair, Annamarija took 2nd place, losing only to Maja Dahlqvist.
All in all, she has 3 victories and 14 more World Cup/Championship podiums. Moreover, three of them were obtained in the team sprint along with Eva Ulric.
The current Slovenian biathlon team is very young. They have 25-year-old Polona Klemencic, 22-year-old Nika Vindsar, 20-year-old Ziva Klemencic, and very young juniors Kaja Zorc and Kaja Maric.
