Now team of Canada have a training in Canmore. Megan Tandy tells about team session with psychologist.
Yesterday we had a team session with psychologist @colemanjohn. For me the biggest take away was how empowering having a "why" or a purpose behind your actions can be. Or in the words of @michaeljrcomedy, “When you know your ‘why’ then your ‘what’ has more impact, because you’re working towards your purpose.”
The example was simple: imagine the difference between an athlete who, even if they put in the work and make progress, basically just goes through the motions as compared to one who has a WHY - someone who approaches every task with more energy, passion and focus, who invests more of themselves in the process because they have that fire burning inside and know exactly why they are fighting for it.
So here is my WHY:
Because I believe I have yet to achieve my best possible performance, because I love to push my own limits, because daring to aim for a difficult goal is so empowering, because of the immense sense of pride I feel when I represent Canada, because being able to race and train on this level is a privledge that I want to honour and because every day I prove to myself how strong and capable I am, even in the face of adversity.
