The battle for victory unfolded between Norway, France, Italy, Germany, and even the United States. Weather conditions were once again far from ideal, causing many teams to struggle on the shooting range. Sweden, for example, dropped to the bottom after mistakes by Nelin and Ponsiluoma — and never climbed back up.
Around the halfway point, Germany fell out of the group of contenders as Kaiser picked up a penalty loop. Soon after, the fairytale ended for the U.S. as well: Levins shot slowly and inaccurately, couldn’t maintain the leaders’ pace, and by the end of her leg was already a full minute behind.
On the anchor leg, Lou Jeanmonnot used clean shooting to break away from her rivals. Lisa Vittozzi could have challenged her, but she missed on the standing stage and then lost another ten seconds due to a cartridge issue — the disappointment on Lisa’s face said everything.
Tandrevold remains on the Norwegian team thanks to past achievements and limited internal competition, but if things continue this way, Ingrid may well be heading toward retirement. She had more misses today, and if not for Norway’s one-minute buffer, they could have easily lost the bronze.
