Very often, Anna Gandler does some light juggling before or during shooting practice. And she is not shy about it.
«I do it to activate my brain» she replies. «I have read studies showing that this activity helps to unite the two hemispheres of the brain.»
According to a study conducted by three researchers from the University of Poznan (Poland) called «The Effect of Juggling on Human Neuroplasticity,» this activity can indeed provide numerous benefits.
In particular, it stimulates the simultaneous interaction between the two hemispheres of the brain thanks to alternating-crossing movements, for a better overall analysis of situations and control of emotions. This is a real plus for a biathlete.
«I juggle because it is good for my head, and I do it especially when I feel that I am not concentrating well», Anna Gandler continues. «I started six or seven years ago, and it works well, so I continue. It also allows me not to get bored before leaving. In the warm-up area you sometimes don’t really know what to do, and this allows me to do something, move a little and thus concentrate.»
