Upside Down - Incredible Norway Wins Mixed Relay in Kontiolahti

Single mixed is an appetizer before the real race. All countries have the strongest possible teams.

The first part of the race was Norway's, Karoline Knotten did her best. By the way, it was a rare event when the Norwegians used only one extra round for four shooting ranges.

Dorothea Wierer followed closely behind her, and the other competitors were 15-30 seconds behind, but none of the medal contenders failed.

But in the second part of the race, Elvira Oberg was the best, who brought the Swedish team into the lead. Her last lap was phenomenal in speed! Only Ingrid Tandrevold was able to hold on, and lost only 5 seconds in the end. But Justine Breza and Franziska Preuss lost more than 20 seconds on the last lap.

Doro Wierer's advantage was gone, Hannah Auchntaller finished the leg 5th, a minute behind. Next came Belgium, Ukraine and the Czech Republic, losing almost 2 minutes.

Jesper Nelin is awesome, he was impeccable in the first prone, and went into a 15-second gap with Dale. However, the Norwegian reduced the Swede's gap by standing, but at the shooting range it had consequences. Dale spent a lot of time shooting, used up all the extra rounds, and barely avoided a penalty loop, letting even Eric Perrot pass. But Johannes has very good speed, in one lap he was able to make up everything he lost in shooting, and the gap with the Swede was reduced to 15 seconds.

This trio couldn't worry about the fate of the bronze, the consolation prize would have gone to any of these teams. After all, Riettmuller and Bionaz didn't spend their part of the race successfully, receiving one penalty loop for each. At the leg exchange, Germany was losing 2:15, Italy 2:42, and Ukraine 2:47.

And then everything turned upside down! Ponsilouma and Soerum barely managed the prone, having spent 8 rounds each, while Emilien Jacquelin didn't feel any problems with shooting, and raced ahead of this pair. The gap was only 10 seconds, but the pursuers were unable to reduce it.

At the final shooting, Jacquelin used an extra round, while the Swede made 5 out of 5. Vebjorn Soerum fiddled a little with one target, but was only slightly behind - 14 seconds from the leader.

The pursuers rushed after the Frenchman, but no, the Swede decided that he had enough for today. And Soerum caught up with Jacquelin already on the finish line, and overtook him! Incredibly, France is missing out on victory.

Germany, Italy and Ukraine rolled to the finish line two minutes later, and completed the flower ceremony.
