Sweden wins single mixed in Kontiolahti, photo finish for France and Germany

The French pair Julia Simon - Quentin Fillon Maillet - stood out before the start of the race, and were clear favorites, along with Norwegians Joni Arnekleiv and Vetle Christiansen. It was also worth expecting good results from Austria (Hauser + Eder) and Sweden (Halvarsson + Samuelsson).

Julia Simon started just fine, with just one miss and a 15-second gap from her closest rival. But Quentin was not so "cool", Samuelsson needed two laps to reduce the 20-second gap to the Frenchman to a minimum.

The Austrians and Swiss were very close, thanks to the efforts of Eder and Stalder.

But the Norwegians didn't spend the first half of the distance like champions. Arneklev missed as many as 5 times in two shootings, and at the relay exchange she was only 11th with a 30-second gap, and Christiansen could not improve the situation.

At the next leg, Halvarsson even briefly took the lead, but she coped with her task - she stayed quite close to Simon (+9 seconds), leaving all the showdown to the mens.

Behind them, Hauser and Voigt were able to break away from the Swiss, and Germany and Austria had a chance for the last available medal, or not last?

Emy Baserga was 48 seconds behind Simon, and Estonian Ermits already was losing more than a minute, as was the Norwegian pair.

At the last leg, it became clear that Quentin could not compete on equal terms with Sebastian. The Swede easily caught up with him, and only because of an extra miss, he was unable to move forward. Meanwhile, Simon Eder won 10 seconds on the Frenchman, and Strelow - 15!

And when the Frenchman finally missed, he had no chance. The Swede ran away to victory, and Justus Strelow even came out ahead of Quentin. Another 5 seconds behind was the veteran - Simon Eder, but he was not able to catch up with this duet.

Fillon Maillet and Strelow put on a show, crossing the finish line at the same time. But even without a photo finish it was clear - the Frenchman was a little closer.
