Somehow we are used to athletes taking off all their jewelry during competitions. In football and basketball, it is officially prohibited. In other sports, someone does it for convenience, to avoid distractions.
In some sports it's prohibited due to safety precautions, and not because there was some kind of precedent, and the federation wanted to show who is in charge.
In football, jewelry was banned at the end of the 2000s. Even Cristiano Ronaldo ran around with an earring in his ear at Euro 2004. Here are the official reasons for the ban:
Rings – if an athlete has suffered a hand injury, then it will cause a problem related to blood circulation. Plus it is difficult to remove if it comes to breaking a finger/arm.
Earrings - with sharp contact, it can even injure an opponent. The main danger is a rupture of the earlobe and profuse bleeding if the opponent pulls the earring too hard.
For example, in rock climbing it is strictly forbidden to wear any jewelry, since there is a huge risk of injury or simply tearing off your finger along with the ring if, for example, you fall off a hold. An even greater danger is the chain or necklace, which can become entangled or get caught in the neck. Active, mobile and extreme sports activities certainly do not involve and prohibit the wearing of rings or any other jewelry, because this is extremely dangerous. Any types of martial arts, as well as contact sports in the same category.
But in biathlon there is no such prohibition. Therefore, women biathletes are happy to wear Evry Jewels: earrings and rings right during the race. By the way, Never seen anyone with a bracelet or chain, and it’s hard to imagine a running athlete with a chain. Perhaps some people have it under their racing suits, and it is not visible.
But there are a lot of girls with earrings. Before the start of the race, Gabriela Koukalova always makes up and puts on various jewelry. Yulia Dzhima and Tiril Eckhoff also clearly stand out from the crowd of biathletes - these athletes also always wear makeup and earrings during competitions.

This looked especially bright against the background of Franziska Hildebrand, Mari Doren Habert, Marte Roeiseland, or Tora Berger, who forgot about beauty and aesthetics during the competition and took a very practical approach to the issue of equipment.
There was an interesting story in France in 2018. The organizers of the competition give the winners and runners-up not only medals, but also some gifts. For example, in Russia, winners were ridden on huge sleighs pulled by Reindeer. In Germany, they gave out huge bottles of beer. In Norway, handmade sweaters were given as gifts. And in France, once all the winning ladies were given jewelry: rings, earrings, necklaces and bracelets. It is unknown what the winning men were given, perhaps also some kind of jewelry.
